Big Bear Deli in Post Falls is a straightforward spot where you can grab a hearty sandwich or a fresh salad without fuss. This deli caters well to those looking for a casual lunch, especially locals and workers nearby who want something filling and fast but made with care. The vibe is unpretentious and focused on satisfying appetites rather than creating an elaborate dining experience.

The menu leans heavily on classic deli staples with a twist — sandwiches like the aptly named Big Bear, Reuben, and Turkey Bacon Ranch Melt stand out. Portions are generous; one sandwich here can easily split between two unless you're very hungry. The meat tends to be moderate in volume, drawing some comparison to earlier days under past ownership, but the taste and overall sandwich build remain solid.

The place is also thoughtful about dietary needs. For example, gluten-free diners will find options that don’t feel like an afterthought, with separate preparation areas to avoid cross-contamination. This attention to detail points to a deli that values practical solutions for customers, rather than broad appeal.

On any given lunchtime, you’ll see locals popping in for combos of sandwiches and house-made soups or salads like the creamy dill pasta or spinach. The soups — including chicken noodle and roasted red pepper smoked gouda — add a warming option that complements the sandwiches well. Bacon is often highlighted by patrons, described as well-cooked and smoky, which is a meaningful detail for sandwich enthusiasts.

Big Bear Deli fits best into the day-to-day rhythm of Post Falls’ eaters who want a relaxed stop without the pretense of a full-service restaurant. Early to mid-afternoon on a weekday when you’re looking for a no-nonsense, substantial meal seems like the prime time to visit. This is a place where the emphasis stays firmly on what’s on the plate and how it fuels your day, more than the extra atmosphere or decor.

Always a great lunch! I got the Big Bear sandwich, which is literally a sandwich big enough for a bear lol! I'm celiac, so gluten-free is a big deal. They use a simple GF multigrain bread. It's decent and held together so I could eat the sandwich. They prepared my sandwich off to the side on a piece of sandwich wrap. It was kept off the main assembly line. Put together by a separate worker with new gloves. They "do thier best" but off no guarantee. There's some inherent risk for a celiac when eating at a sandwich shop, but this place works for me. Overall DELICIOUS!

YUMM! We had errands in Post Falls and wanted to try somewhere new and we are SO glad we did! I order the TBR (Turkey Bacon Ranch) and he ordered the Club. I also had the roasted red pepper and smoked gouda soup. Absolutely delucious. We were only able to eat half of a sandwich in one sitting. I recommend ordering any sandwich with bacon. Their bacon was delicious and perfectly smoked and cooked! We will be back.

The meat on the sandwiches we had today(Rachel and Reuben) was pretty skimpy as compared to when the original owners had the shop. Which is rather sad, but the sandwiches were still really good.
